Landscape and Long Exposure Images From The River Thames in South West London in Isleworth, Richmond and Twickenham.

My classroom and playground. In south west London, not far from Heathrow Airport, the Thames starts the beginning of the end of it's journey as it enters the 'big smoke' of the city of London, Here though, on the outskirts of the city it still present a serene air of calm.

Variations

OLD ISLEWORTH RIVERSIDE

Views down river from the riverside at Old Isleworth, The old village retains a somewhat rural feel, at least from this angle. The pub on the left is very old an apparently used to be frequented by Charles Dickens amongst others.

....and also various interpretation of the same location from across the river,

FROM RICHMOND LOCK

The view is from the top of Richmond Lock towards Old Isleworth and Kew downstream. Surprisingly contrasting images with the varying seasons and tide, the latter of which is the reason for the locks existence.

RICHMOND LOCK & WEIR

.... and more views, this time of the structure, from various locations. This structure controls the flow of water and helps prevent the Thames, which surprisingly is still tidal this far up river from flooding London

TOWARDS KEW

Different takes on the view down river towards Kew, home of the world famous botanical gardens. In the foreground is Old Isleworth on the left and Isleworth Ait, a small island in the Thames, on the right.

RICHMOND BRIDGE

One of London's most famous bridges, it's foundation stone was laid in 1774 and completed in 1777. The historic building is seen from various locations here.
